Location. Hotel Jonic Mazzaro is a family run hotel, dating back to the early 1900s, set in Mazzaro Bay overlooking the Ionian Sea. It is just 30 metres from the funicular connecting Taormina and 60 kilometres from Mount Etna. Catania Fontanarossa Airport (CTA) is 40 kilometres away, a 30 minute drive.
Hotel Features.Multilingual staff at the 24 hour front desk can organise guided tours of Etna, Syracuse and the Eolian Islands, and guests can enjoy drinks and cocktails on the terrace with spectacular sea views. Practical amenities at Hotel Jonic Mazzaro include airport transfers (surcharge), room service and an express check in/out service.
Jonic Restaurant serves typical Mediterranean dishes with panoramic sea views, and is open for lunch and dinner.
Guestrooms. The 20 guestrooms, over three floors, have light, modern decor in pastel shades with simple furnishings. All include terraces with sea views, cable television, minibars, direct dial phones, air conditioning, and separate tubs and showers. The half board room rate incorporates buffet breakfast and dinner each day.
Expert Tip. Taormina town centre is built on a hill overlooking the sea. Mount Etna dominates the landscape and is Europe's largest live volcano.

Getting there. City bus 457 connects the airport to Catania every 20 minutes. Direct bus services are also available to Taormina and Syracuse. Bus tickets must be bought at a booth just outside the terminal building and validated when boarding. A taxi costs approximately 75 EUR to the hotel. The major towns of Sicily, including Messina, Palermo, Catania, Syracuse and Taormina, are all connected by an efficient and inexpensive rail network. Local bus services operate in most towns and connect the more remote villages. A car would be useful for exploring further afield. All prices subject to change.
Driving directions.From the airport take the motorway to Messina and exit at Taormina. Follow the signs to Taormina Mare until the beach of Mazzaro and the funicular station (to Taormina) "Piazzale Funivia". The hotel is 20 metres on the right.
